TAMPA, FL — Finn’s Fighters proudly announces the expansion of its dedicated mental health support program for families navigating a pediatric cancer diagnosis. This new branch of the program, launched in May during Mental Health Awareness Month, builds on three years of in-house therapy services supported through a trusted partnership with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. Finn’s Fighters is now broadening access by covering the cost of therapy sessions through Ellie Mental Health—a trusted national network of licensed providers with convenient local offices in Brandon and St. Pete, plus secure virtual therapy options. This expansion ensures families can receive mental health care both during hospital stays and at home, removing barriers to the support they deserve.
“Our families have had someone to talk to during hospital stays through our St. Joes’ Partnership, but the emotional toll doesn’t stop when they walk out of the building,” said Christen Gray, Executive Director of Finn’s Fighters. “We’re expanding this program to walk alongside them wherever they are—whether they’re in the hospital, at home, or trying to rebuild after treatment.”
Through this enhanced program, Finn’s Fighters covers the full cost of therapy services for eligible families, providing:
✅ Access to licensed therapists through Ellie Mental Health’s local branches
✅ Counseling for grief, trauma, anxiety, and caregiver burnout
✅ Support for parents, siblings, and primary caregivers
✅ A confidential, simple referral process coordinated through the hospital social workers
This program expansion removes barriers like cost, stigma, and waitlists, ensuring that families receive the mental health care they need when they need it most—at no cost to them, fully funded by community donations to Finn’s Fighters.
“Mental health care has always been part of the fight, and now we’re doubling down,” Gray said. “This expansion means our families don’t have to feel alone with the heavy parts of this journey—no matter where they are.”
Finn’s Fighters’ expanded mental health program is available immediately for both inpatient and outpatient families. To support this initiative or learn more, visit www.finnsfighters.org.
